Startup Drinks Portland Edition

{ April 17th, 2008 }

Welcome to Startup Drinks Portland, Oregon.

So I saw a post on Hacker News about StartupDrinks and really loved the idea without looking further into it. Andrew Hyde from StartupWeekdend set me up with our very own StartupDrinks Portland blog. I think downtown Portland would be an awesome place for an event like this.

 Lets start with a discussion about potential bars/lounges that would be a good place to meet up for drinks.Please post a comment with suggestions. Twitter alias and personal blog links are welcome :)

    In in a vacuum here, would like to meet up with some locals who are working on stuff.

    I’m a cs student at Portland State and would love to meet up with some startup types. I try to keep up on startup news and whatnot. At this point I lack the programming experience to do anything on my own but would enjoy the opportunity to hang around some better programmers and maybe pick up a few tricks. eignerchris at gmail dot com.

    I’m down to meet anywhere. Henry’s Tavern has good food, micro brews, pool, and is smoke-free.

    Yet another great addition to the Portland community. Any excuse to grab a beer and exchange ideas is a winner in my book.

    Perhaps we should use Unthirsty.com to track down a local spot that attendees could agree upon…

    Now that the sun might start shining a bit more, I nominate Amnesia, RonTom’s or Vendetta (not all breweries, but great bars) for their patio accommodations…

    Bailey’s Tap Room on Broadway downtown is a pretty good spot. There’s a few regular tech meetups there. It tends to be a little small but has great beer on tap. Another good option is the Green Dragon Brewpub on SE 9th. Also great selection of beers but a little bit bigger.

    East in the China Town area is a chill place and has big tables to sit at… and on Mon & Tues it is bring your own iPod nights… so we can compare bad music tastes as well.

    Laurelwood in either the NW or NE might be a good option. They have large spaces upstairs and have allowed npost networking events in the past.

    Anywhere would work for me though . . .
